Androni Giocattoli Sidermec started out strongly also in San Juan. In Argentina, the magical start of the Italian champions continues, never down from the podium in 2020 with the exploits in Venezuela. In the first stage of the Argentine race (163.5 km San Juan-San Juan), in fact, Manuel Belletti’s second place arrived, really close to touching the victory in a sprint in which he yielded to very little, after a great comeback, only to the Frenchman Rudy Barbier (Israel start up Nation). Behind Belletti the Argentine Connte, the Colombian Molano and Hodeg, Peter Sagan, Maikin, Wackermann, Gaviria and Lemoine in a big names sprint.
The excellent start of the Italian champions in San Juan, in addition to Belletti’s second place, also certified the long breakaway of the day in which Mattia Bais was a beautiful protagonist, the last of the attackers to be taken up at thirty kilometers from the finish. For the new professional Bais, already in evidence in the season final of last year when he was an intern, more than 100 kilometers of breakaway.
The team manager of Androni Giocattoli Sidermec Gianni Savio was also satisfied: «Today, the team worked very well, perfectly interpreting the indications of the technical meeting. Mattia Bais immediately entered the day’s escape and was on the attack for many kilometers. In the final, the “red train” piloted Manuel Belletti well, then the author of a splendid sprint with which he touched the victory ».
