GF OF MONTERIGGIONI: BONETTO IN THE FIRST ABSOLUTE TEN

A busy Sunday for the Bottecchia Factory Team bikers, engaged in the 30th edition of the Granfondo Castello di Monteriggioni, valid as the opening stage of the Tuscan MTB Cup and also part of the Deltos Cup and the Trek Zerowind MTBChallenge.

56 km, with 1600 meters of difference in height, drawn through the Tuscan landscapes and with a tough finish, consisting of the assault on the city walls by means of a tear, with slopes up to 20%.

The first among the red-blacks was Francesco Bonetto, seventh overall in a very high level general classification. “I tried to give my best and also to be careful of the hidden pitfalls along the way” commented Bonetto. Domenico Valerio also did well, once again opposed by bad luck, and despite this, he finished fourteenth overall; to follow, captain Franz Hofer sixteenth overall and Lorenzo Laposse, twenty-first in his seasonal debut and therefore still looking for the right pedal stroke.

Furthermore, Giuseppe Panariello was delayed by a puncture in the most demanding descent of the route which forced him to arrive at the first assistance point with an unbridgeable delay with the leading group. To underline, then the placings of the Under 23s, Mazzola and Servadei crossed the finish line respectively fourth and eighth in the category, Daniele Feola eleventh, Andrea Piantone fifteenth. Excellent third step of the podium for Junior Davide Pulizzi.
