AREA ZERO-D’AMICO-BOTTECCHIA AL 52° TROFEO LAIGUEGLIA
Ancona (AN), 17 February, 2015 – The roads of Liguria await the guys from Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia. The Italian continental formation led by team manager Ivan De Paolis will be lining up for the start of the 52nd Trofeo Laigueglia, a 191.8-km race, on Thursday, February 19th. This is a classic on the Italian calendar that will boast the title of a Hors Categorie race this year.
“For our team the Trofeo Laigueglia will be a significant test to measure up against high level teams and associations. Besides, this race will provide an important showcase,” explains Sport Director Massimo Codol, who has been reconfirmed this year at the head of Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia. “We definitely know that we still have a lot of work to do; right now we are just starting out and we have a long season ahead of us. The Laigueglia is a difficult race; this year the route will be even a little bit harder compared to 2014, especially with a more selective final. Last year, with great pride and satisfaction, we managed to make it to the podium in this race. However right now the situation is different; for us it’s important to be there and to try to grow race after race. We’re coming to the Laigueglia after our retreat in Massa Vecchia, Tuscany, and fresh off our experience at the Gp Laguna, in Croatia, which was especially useful to test our racing rhythm and further amalgamate the group. The members in the best shape at the moment are Paolo Ciavatta and Silvio Giorni, who were already part of the Area Zero group last year, and Adriano Brogi too. Anyway, I expect to see a little progress every day from all the guys in the group.”
Follow the race on TV: there will be a broad overview of the race on Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. on RaiSport1.
