AREA ZERO-D’AMICO-BOTTECCHIA IN THE TOP 10 AT THE GP NOBILI
Ancona (AN), 19 March, 2015 – Today’s good performance at the Gp Nobili Rubinetterie, the Piedmont classic on the Italian spring calendar, has brought satisfaction and optimism to team Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia.
Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek) was the winner at the finish line in Stresa after 187.5 km; he came in ahead of 2014 winner Simone Ponzi (SouthEast) and Marco Haller (Katusha). Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia took ninth place in the bunch sprint with Antonio Parrinello.
“With the ninth place by Antonio Parrinello today we confirmed ourselves as the first continental team at the finish line,” explains team manager for Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia Ivan De Paolis. “It’s a nice achievement for our team to be present in a quality top 10 list, on par with pro team riders and some of the most noted professional groups in the peloton. We’re going to try to continue with the same commitment and determination with which we began our journey in 2014.”
“Parrinello is growing and today he proved that, but we are also happy with our young riders, for whom each race represents an opportunity to grow and gain experience” says De Paolis. “Adriano Brogi, one of the best on our team in this first part of the season, made a nice try to get into a break after about 30 km, pairing up with Samoilau (CCC Polsat). The two riders gained an advantage of almost 1 minute, but unfortunately the pack didn’t leave the fugitives much room to get away and eventually caught up to them. The only regret is that we weren’t able to get into the right break, the one with 27 athletes that went on to light up the central part of the race. Finally, well deserved recognition for a job well done goes to Francesco Baldi, who recently turned 19 and who made his debut today among the pros by riding a good race, staying out in front and trying to be useful to the team.”
