THE FIRST STAGE RACE IN 2015 FOR AREA ZERO-D’AMICO-BOTTECCHIA
Ancona, 24 March, 2015 – Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia is ready to take on their first stage race of the season. The Italian continental formation led by Team Manager Ivan De Paolis will in fact be lining up for the start of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi & Bartali.
The race will take place over four days for a total of five stages on the roads of Emilia-Romagna. Following tradition, the short stage race will set off on Thursday with a double header starting in Gatteo (Forlì-Cesena), with a 99.5 km in-line stage in the morning. Then in the afternoon there will be a 13.3 km time trial in Gatteo Mare. The schedule continues on Friday with the 2nd stage, Cesenatico – Sogliano al Rubicone (156.2 km); the 3rd stage on Saturday Calderara di Reno – Crevalcore (173.8 km) and the 4th and final stage on Sunday Pavullo – Roccapelago (152.6 km).
“It’s going to be four days of intense competition. It will be a good test for the entire team and a chance to gain experience, especially for our younger riders,” explains sports director Massimo Codol. “At the Gp Nobili we saw a developing Parrinello who felt good on the climbs and who scored a decent placement in the bunch sprint. We expect him to take another small step forward. There is also Paolo Ciavatta, who is another expert member on our team; he is also growing and he may do well. Then there are all the young riders, many for whom this will be their first maximum category stage race. As I said, they are here overall for the experience; they can test themselves in a team time trial and on a challenging finish line like the one featured in the last stage at Roccapelago. However I am also expecting maximum effort from our young riders, first and foremost to try and finish all four days of the race and perhaps then trying to stand out at the special partial finish lines and making it into some breaks.”
