AREA ZERO-D’AMICO-BOTTECCHIA TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ancona (AN), 25 June, 2015 – Turin will be the host city for the pro race that will decide the 2015 Italian Champion on Saturday, June 27th. The race sets off at 11:00 a.m. from Legnano. It will cover a total of 219 km between Lombardy and Piedmont. Whoever comes in first across the finish line located at the summit of the famous Colle di Superga, which overlooks the capital of Piedmont, will win the coveted Italian jersey. The riders from Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia, the young continental formation led by team manager Ivan De Paolis, will be participating in this important event alongside Italian cycling’s elite.
“The date with the Italian championships means a lot to us. In Turin we will get the chance to measure up against all the other enterprises in national cycling, with riders from the highest levels who are getting ready to go to the Tour de France. We will try to honour this commitment as best we can,” explains sports director Massimo Codol. “Clearly it’s not going to be an easy contest but these are the occasions that give the youngest riders a chance to gain experience and grow. The route is hard, especially the final, which practically retraces the course for the Milano-Torino. I think whoever wants to win will play their hand in the race in the last 25 km with the double pass on Superga. For the Italian national race we have decided to line up the riders who can count on being in good shape at the moment, and who have the skills most suited to this type of route. Our point men will obviously be our more experienced riders, like Antonio Parrinello, who has come close to victory more than once these last few weeks, and Paolo Ciavatta. Both riders came out very well at the Tour de Slovenie, where our team as a whole figured really well.”
And Italy isn’t the only target for Area Zero-D’Amico-Bottecchia. In fact, this weekend the rider Iltjan Nika will participate in the time trial and the in-line race at the Albanian national championships.
