Giro Next Gen, what a sprint! Fabbro takes silver in the first stage and the tricolour jersey
An explosive start for Uc Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol, who secured a magnificent silver medal with Riccardo Fabbro at the finish line in Vibo Valentia, the end of the first stage of the Giro Next Gen. The Treviso native from Camalò won the group sprint, crossing the finish line just behind the day's winner, Kasper Haugland (Decathlon CMA CGM Development Team), who completed the stage solo. Davide Donati (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies) rounded out the podium.

A powerful and progressive sprint from the rider of the Treviso team, who once again demonstrated his full potential in sprint finishes, and beyond.
"It's an honor to be here, we believed in ourselves," said Riccardo Fabbro immediately after the finish line. "I knew which wheels were best, the team helped me, and I gave it everything I had." The Uc Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol rider also looked ahead to tomorrow's stage, ending in Crotone: "Tomorrow we'll try again, and I hope to raise my hands and wear that beautiful pink jersey."
Riccardo Fabbro also received the Tricolor Jersey, which distinguishes the best Italian rider in the General Classification by Time, making him the most promising young talent in Italian cycling.
"We knew we could make our mark in fast finishes," explained Sporting Director Rino De Candido, "but securing a podium finish already in the opening stage of the Giro was a really good start. We came here with great determination, and I'm sure this won't be the only result we achieve in this competition, which, it should be remembered, features the best riders from the international scene."
A "historic" result that brings Uc Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol back to the top of the Under 23 movement, as an enthusiastic Ettore Renato Barzi emphasized: "For this season, we have built one of the youngest teams in the world. We believed in this gamble because we knew we had some very talented young riders in our ranks. Riccardo showed it today, immediately, in the first stage of the Giro Next Gen, but along with him, the entire team rode perfectly. This result rightfully ranks among the best that our over one-hundred-year-old club can boast in the trophy room of Porta San Tomaso. My compliments go to the entire team and the technical staff for preparing so well for this debut and for coming so close to the first pink jersey."
